This list ROCKS, girl!

I also believe that Girasole on Larchmont and Alegria in Silverlake have no corkage policies.

You forgot the best restaurant in LA, Lucques: $15.

Great list, Sarah. Very useful. Many of these are lower than I’d actually think. I might have to start bringing bottles with me (as long as they’re not on the restaurant’s list already, of course.) Extra tidbit: not only does The Kitchen have low corkage, they’re very tolerant, i.e. I once saw folks drinking Two Buck Chuck. Pretty amazing that the wine cost less than the fee itself. I wouldn’t do it, but hey, nice to know you can, I guess.

Cafe Bizout has no corkage fee. Was there just a week ago and it was, with apologies to Larry Miller, “freeee”!

Fabulous, helpful list–I am always looking for these places myself (I drink a lot of wine!). I can’t believe the Pinots now have no corkage–unbelievable! Here are a couple of additions…
1. Alejo’s in the Marina has no corkage.
2. Mao’s Kitchen in Venice has no corkage (at least when I was last there…not too recently).
3. Indo Cafe and Cafe Brasil in Palms have no corkage.
4. Le Petit Jacques in Sherman Oaks has, I believe, a $4 corkage.
5. Paul’s Cafe in Tarzana has some low corkage ($4?).

Regarding the anonymous list:
Chameau in Silverlake has closed and relocated to a Fairfax location, where they do serve wine and beer (don’t know about corkage, however).
August Chris is now Le Petit Jacques (for about the last two years).
Bistro Provence in Burbank has a $6 corkage.
Mama Voula’s in West L.A. has no corkage (they lost their wine/beer license over a bathroom issue).

Gaby’s Mediteranean is BYOB, including beer or wine, with no corkage fee. They have two locations: Venice Pier, and Culver City (Washington Blvd). I’ve never had a problem bringing a six-pack of brew, and cracking them open myself.

Amazing food, and vegetarian/vegan friendly! The outdoor seating is an added bonus.

Just had birthday dinner at Osteria Latini. Food was wonderful. Service great. Corkage was $12.
Cafe Bizou just raised their corkage to $3. Still the biggest
bargain.

Cafe Pierre in Manhattan Beach – really good French bistro food at good prices; except corkage at $20. They also say they won’t uncork if the bottle is on their extensive wine list, but they haven’t yet refused.

MacroGal June 2006 at 5:21 pm

I believe that Gaby’s Mediterranean is actually $5 – and their food is so awesomely cheap that the corkage fee almost doubles your bill :)

I believe Cafe Bizou in Santa Monica is also free corkage…

If you haven’t been, you simply have to try uber cheap wonderful BYOB Kathmandu Kithen on Venice Blvd, near Motor. Also, Doughboy’s (beside El Carmen) is a must mention on the BYOB tip.

Hi Sarah!

While reading S. Irene Virbila’s review of E. Baldi in the Times this week, my memory of this corkage list was tickled, when Ms. Virbila mentioned that she paid the outrageous sum of $40 for corkage at E. Baldi.

Yikes!

This is fantastic. 2 things:

For one, I linked to you on Wise Bread,
and, neither Osteria La Buca in East Hollywood nor Tasca on West Third Street charge a corkage.

Bistro Provence has raised their corkage to $9.00 for the 1st bottle and $14.00 for each additional bottle. Le Petit Jaques is now closed.

Love the idea of this list, but its VERY out of date. Many of these restaurants are not open today and others have changed their policies. It would be so cool to have an updated list!
