Simply Organic – Because Somewhere, Strawberries are “in Season” in October

simply organic, a cookbook for sustainable, seasonal, and local ingredients

The Delicious Life Cookbook-a-Day Giveaway no. 2

The Short: Win a copy of Simply Organic, A Cookbook for Sustainable, Seasonal, and Local Ingredients. You have until somewhere around 5 pm Wednesday June 4th to declare your utter love and adoration for me. Oh, and you also have until 5 pm Wednesday June 4th to leave any comment you’d like on this post to win the cookbook.

Love and winning are unrelated.

Or are they?!

The Long: As much as I want to keep the book for a number of reasons that include, but are not limited to, how pretty it looks on my coffee table and that it’s sold at Anthropologie along with ladybug kitchen timers and frilly little aprons, I simply have to give away Simply Organic: A Cookbook for Sustainable, Seasonal, and Local Ingredients.

I have to.

I don’t live a sustainable and seasonal lifestyle. I can’t even pretend that I want to. I buy fruit of suspect origin from “vendors” on the side of the street, I eat strawberries in the winter and make banana bread year round. Last I checked, bananas don’t grow in LA.

(“Local” dining, on the other hand, is an understatement the size of three-mile radius outside of which I am loath to dine.)

So, there you go. I’d be a hypocrite if I kept the book. Lucky you.

Wow I finally get the chance to post what I have been dying to forever? A simple organic love affair that I have to attend to daily with the delicious world of Sarah! How can a cookbook of organic love however even compare to the sustainable need I have to view your blog everyday? If I win this I will strive to make the hardest dish in this book out of my seasonal love for you….and your love of food as well. JJ

I do hereby declare that I love and adore you because you take photos that make looking at food as pleasurable as eating it, despite being significantly less fattening!

Yes indeed, that is a talent worth of much love.

  • sarah gilbert , cafemama

    “Love and winning are unrelated.

    Or are they?!”

    Oh, they be related delicious!

Here are my qualifications — I love June babies (I’m a Leo and we get along quite well with the Gemini) , I love organic food, I love delicious, I love cook books. Ok that’s all I got.

You’re sassy and fun, which is why I read your blog (and even follow you on Twitter) :-)

I recently signed up for weekly organic produce delivery from a local farm, so this cookbook would be perfect for me! Sign me up

    (fingers crossed)

doo-bee-doo-bee-dooooooooo – you were the first blog I ever placed on Automatic Feed. I think that’s a pretty big deal…. consider I have about 100 now. Oh yeah. Ohhhh yeah.

  • Daniela

It’s pretty simple – i love you because you love food. I adore your blog and I wish I would get a chance to meet you and cook with you. Eventhough I never met you in person, I know we will get along great and would have so much fun in the kitchen.

And why I love organic food? That’s simple too. I get up twice a week @5am, take the Train and Bus for an hour, just to be at the Farmers Market at 6:45am before all the restaurant chefs get there. I love organic food and the passion local farmers have for it.

And why I want that book? Well, I am graduating from Culinary School in one week and a cookbook would be an awesome gift. No seriously, I love books!

    1) I love your blog because, above all else, it has reaffirmed my love for Korean food (especially bibimbahp!)

    B) As a recently transplanted Michigander (and by recently, I mean that I moved last week), I’ve found that Austin, TX has a much nicer growing season and a better appreciation for local, organic food than the meat’n'potatoes crowd (whom I love dearly) from metro-Detroit. Therefore, this cookbook would be a fantastic way to broaden my horizons.

To my beloved gastronomic muse, how I adore your tidy corner of the great ether. Your carefully laid out words send my heart aflutter while the snapshots of West Coast delights cause my mouth to water. Were the gods of random number algorithms to grant me through their blessings the secrets of fine organic cuisine, I would be reborn a happy man, continuing my pursuit of the delicious life.

  • Maggie’s Farm

I’ll keep this simple. I love your delicious life as much as I love jalapeno poppers dipped in ranch dressing.
    Happy Organic Birthday Love!
