Is this Gwyneth Paltrow Goop approved?

  • http://www.thedeliciouslife.com Sarah J. Gim

Yuttles: I was going to say that the only thing that was GOOP-approved was my drink, but alas, I allowed myself to have a Diet Coke. I hate myself.

By the way, have you LOOKED at the GOOP detox diet? I am almost ready. I put it all into a spreadsheet to make shopping, “cooking,” and notetaking much easier.

    Get ready.

Been wanting to try this place. The name pleases me — though mostly because I have fond memories of eating frozen green peas while they were still frozen when I was a small child. Like frozen grapes but not really at all.

    Why am I still talking?

  • http://www.thedeliciouslife.com Sarah J. Gim

Diana: I like when you commentalk, mindmarbles let loose and fingers on keyboard, unfettered.

That is when we find out you ate frozen peas like they were frozen grapes.

And we smile at you, nodding our heads, now understanding the “why” of you a little more… ;)

I hate to say this, but I would NOT recommend this place to anyone. It was very run down, dirty and the food was bad. Plus there was this lady whose 2 kids were being VERY loud and disruptive. The manager/owner should have asked her to quiet the kids down as it was being VERY disruptive to the patrons. Then when this one lady politely asked her to quiet her children down she became extremely angry and began swearing and threatening this poor customer. The worst part of it all was the owner was sitting right there allowing one customer to verbally abuse and threaten another. The poor lady who was being threatened remained calm and refused to comment back, which was good for her. But the owner who was right there and saw it ALL didn’t do anything. He just sat there and let his customer be harassed and threatened. After seeing that I REFUSE to give him ANY more money and I would urge you to do the same. I was just sitting there and I almost called the police. Unbelievable.

Kelly: What an experience. Not having seen it go down, I am not sure I can even say what I think I would have done. I often wonder what the role of a restaurant manager/owner is in a situation in which one customer is disruptive to another.

Does the manager take responsibility because it’s taking place on his place of business?

Does the manager leave it between the customers? What if the two people were just out in a public park? Isn’t it just a matter of common courtesy between the two and it should be the same in the restaurant?

    Hard to say.

I’m sad to see Kelly’s post about her experience at Green Peas. My coworkers and I go to Green Peas often and love it. The food is surprisingly good (note we’re not vegetarians either for whom they cater quite significantly), the people behind the counter are nice and the patrons are mostly just hipsters on their macs.

With regard to the altercation mentioned, it was probably insanely awkward for anyone to get involved. Granted it would have been nice if the owner or anyone else had stepped in, but sometimes the public sucks and it’s not fair or appropriate to penalize the owner because of an isolated incident. I can’t confirm the dirty/run down portion of her comment. That’s never been the case when I’ve visited but it doesn’t mean her comment isn’t valid for her experience. I just hope other people aren’t scared away by it. This is really a nice place trying to make it in an area with A TON of other eateries close by.
